I have the honour to inform you of

the circumstances connected with the death of Admiral

Guhler, Commanding-in-Chief Gorman Squadron in the par

East, some of which may be of interest to His Majesty's

Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Admiral Guhler arrived at Hong-

-kong on 13th. December, 1910, and paid an official call

which I returned on board the "Scharnhorst" Flagship the

same day. Two days later I heard that His Excellency had

slipped when landing broken his leg near the ankle. He

was removed to the Naval Hospital where the fracture was

examined with the Rontgen Rays Apparatus, and thence to the

Peak Hospital an institution which admits of Medical men

introducing their own private patients while supplying
